Inhaled Sedation

What is it?

We use inhalation sedation, which is a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen ('laughing gas'), this leads to a very relaxed and calm feeling, just like floating on a cloud.

How is it administered?

You breathe in the mixture through a nosepiece, which is very comfortable.

What are the benefits?

You are conscious all through treatment, you will feel no discomfort, although you may feel a little drowsy. You can't overdose on the gas, as the mixture quickly leaves the body if you breathe in one or two breaths of air. There are no after-effects either, and you can drive a car after about 15 minutes.
